Japan Engines Direct is committed to providing high-quality, authentic JDM engines, transmissions, and automotive components. To ensure transparency and consistency, all returns and refunds must follow the guidelines outlined below.
Return Authorization (RMA Requirement)
All returns must be approved in writing by Japan Engines Direct and assigned an official RMA Number.
Returns without an approved RMA will not be accepted — no exceptions.
To request an RMA, customers must contact us via email or phone and provide all required information, including order details, product condition, and reason for return.
Return Eligibility & Conditions
All returns are subject to the following conditions:
- Items must be in original condition, as received.
- All returns are subject to restocking fees.
- Shipping costs are not refundable.
- Japan Engines Direct is not responsible for loss of time, labor costs, or monetary damages.
- A certified mechanic must install the product. Installation by an untrained individual may void warranty and return eligibility.
Return Processing Options
Upon approval, returns may result in one of the following:
- Replacement item
- Repair
- Store credit
- Full or partial refund (based on inspection and condition)
Final determination is made by Japan Engines Direct after evaluation of the returned item.
Non-Returnable Items
The following items cannot be returned under any circumstances:
- Special order items
- Items sold “As-Is”
- Electronics & sensors
- Damaged items due to improper installation or neglect
- Wear-and-tear components
- Rotary engines
- Performance transmissions
Refund Policy
Refunds are issued only after the returned item has been inspected and approved.
- Refunds are processed within 1–10 business days, depending on your banking institution.
- Refunds may be issued as store credit or a refund to the original payment method, depending on the product condition and approval.
- Approved refund amounts may vary based on restocking fees, return condition, and warranty eligibility.
Warranty Requirements (Affecting Returns/Refunds)
A certified mechanic must install all products.
Failure to meet this requirement may void warranty and return eligibility.
Warranty periods include:
- 90-Day Start-Up Warranty: Used General Replacement Engines
- 90-Day Standard Warranty: Regular Used Replacement Engines
- 30-Day Start-Up Warranty: Used Performance Engines (VTEC, Turbo, High Compression)
- 30-Day Mechanical Warranty: Used Replacement Transmissions
No warranty applies to:
Rotary engines, performance transmissions, external accessories (sensors, gaskets, wiring), labor, downtime, or shipping.
Warranty is void if the engine or transmission is disassembled, modified, or tampered with.
Items Damaged During Transit
Customers must inspect the product before accepting delivery.
If damaged:
- Do not accept the item.
- File a claim with the carrier.

Notify Japan Engines Direct immediately.
Upon carrier decision, Japan Engines Direct may replace, exchange, repair, or credit the product. All shipping damage claims require additional processing time.
Order Cancellations
- Orders cancelled after confirmation may be subject to a cancellation fee up to 15%.
- Orders cannot be cancelled once the item has shipped.
In such cases, the customer is responsible for all shipping costs and restocking fees.
